We were not planning to post this but due to overwhelming DM on Snapchat and Instagram here we go….its easy and not difficult to make. Its NOT the traditional way to make it but we like it and many of our friends and family like it.
You will need in 3-4 lbs of chuck roast, 1 whole onion,4 bay leaves, 1 head of garlic, 2 tbs of cumin, 1 tbs of salt. Cook this in medium heat until its fall apart tender. it took us about 3.5 hours your time will vary.
During the cook skim off the fat that floats to the top.
Once its tender remove and shred. Remove the whole onion, bay leaves, and garlic.
Return the shredded beef to the pot and add the guajillo sauce. make your own or buy the herdez one.
Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes and its done.
That’s it. If you have any questions let us know

Hi Tony and Maribel,
I would love to make this at home, but is there an (European) alternative for the guajillo sauce? Because I doubt that this is available in the Netherlands, I’ve searched a while, but can’t find it.
Best regards,
Jan Petter

Goggle “guajillo sauce for Birria” hope this helps. It’s better if you make your own sauce.
